SideQuest is built for sharing travel plans with people you actually know. Travel plans say when you're away from home, so we treat them carefully.

Who can see your trips

Private · Only me — nobody but you. Not your friends, not us in any feed or list.
Private · Friends can see it— the people you've connected with see the trip on their feed. It isn't open to joining.
Open — connected friends can see it and ask to join.
Partially Open— connected friends can see it and know you're up for meeting during the trip.
These rules are enforced by the database itself, not just by what the screens choose to show.

There is no public profile and no directory anyone can browse or search. You can't be looked up by name.
People connect with you one of two ways: by opening an invite link (or QR code) you gave them, or by entering your exactemail address. Either way it's only a request — nothing of yours is visible until you accept.
When someone enters an email address, we never say whether it has a SideQuest account. So the feature can't be used to find out who is on the app.
Disconnecting from someone is immediate and mutual — you each stop seeing the other's trips.

Your email address (to sign you in), your display name, the trips and stamps you add, who you're connected to, and anything you write in a trip's comments.
We never ask for a password — sign-in is a one-time link sent to your email.
We use analytics to understand which parts of the app get used. Trip destinations, dates, and notes are deliberately excluded from it.

We email you about friend requests, trip invitations, and join requests. You can turn those off on your profile.
Sign-in emails always send, because they're how you get in.
We don't sell your data or send marketing email.

Anything you upload follows the trip's visibility — a photo on a private trip is as private as the trip.
Photos are shown to friends as resized copies, which strips the location and timestamp data cameras embed in image files.
Video files keep their original metadata, which can include where they were recorded. Skip clips you'd rather not place.

Any trip, stamp, or comment you add can be deleted by you at any time.
Deleting your account from your profile removes your profile, trips, stamps, connections, comments, and notifications for good.
